BMW specialist tuning company AC Schnitzer has worked their magic on 8-Series. BMW 8 Series has new body range and performance modifications. Even though it is a design study, but still it is an encompassing proposition. It will be showcased to visitors at Essen Motor Show. Nonetheless, the study remains indicative the “design journey” it could eventually go. It shouldn’t be considered that final product won’t be that different. This is also good news for those who are looking for additional aero components in 8 Series.
What is new in BMW 8 Series by AC Schnitzer is suspension spring kit that lowers the center of gravity by approximately 0.7 to 0.9 inches at the front and 0.4-0.6 inch at the rear. Due to this change, driving dynamics has been optimized and improved cornering ability. Because of the high residual spring travel, it offers good driving comfort. To generate maximum downforce and balance, super-light carbon will be made for later production for aerodynamic components. For Essen Motor show, some of them are made from fiber glass. When the project is finished, BMW 8 Series will come with carbon front spoiler elements, a matching front splitter, carbon side wings, and carbon covers for the vents.
At the rear, carbon ‘Racing’ wing and the carbon diffuser improves downforce along with carbon side skirts that connect front and rear. Shift paddles, a pedal set with matching foot rest and the key holder are made from aluminum. AC Schnitzer is offering performance upgrades for the M850i xDrive and the 840d xDrive. The M850i xDrive offers 591hp instead of 523hp and 850Nm of torque. The 840d xDrive now offers 374hp which is an improvement over 315hp and 780Nm of peak torque. Lastly, each of ‘Carbon Sport’ tailpipes has diameter of 4.13 inches.
