Bentley has unveiled two new versions of their third generation Continental GT and GT Convertible. Both these versions are powered with twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 petrol engine that offers 542 horsepower and 770Nm of torque. With respect to acceleration, coupe can hit 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds whereas Convertible takes 4.0 seconds. Top speed is set at 198 mph. Deliveries in US will commence from third quarter of this year and other market would receive it by first quarter of 2020. Bentley has featured new generation 4.0 liter 32-valve V8 engine that consist of dual twin-scroll turbochargers located inside the ‘V’ of the engine.
Output of the engine (542hp and 770Nm) is sufficient enough for coupe and convertible to remain 0.1 seconds within each other. For fixed-roof version, it can 0 to 62mph in 4.0 seconds and drop top version takes 4.1 seconds. Under suitable condition, engine can switch off four of its eight cylinders without compromising the drive. Bentley claims that shift occurs in 20 milliseconds and is imperceptible to drivers. Additionally, Stop-Start system which operates at “near-to-stop” speeds is also available. V8 versions of Bentley Continental GT and GT Convertible comes with 20-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels as standard. Nonetheless, customers can opt from nine other designs that measures up to 22 inch in diameter.
Seven standard exterior body colors are available as standard along with quad exhaust pipes and subtle V8 badging. Additionally, there are four other color split options are available as well as contrast stitching, piping and hand cross stitch. Crown Cut Walnut on the V8 fascia and other areas, and a 10-speaker Bentley Audio system as standard (offers 650 watts). Digital instrument cluster with optional Bentley Rotating Display with a 12.3-inch touchscreen can be found. Convertible version is available with range of eight roof lining colors. Other features include air suspension, an active all-wheel drive system, electric power-assisted steering and continuous damping control.
