It was not that long ago when many of us were talking about a sports car from Bentley. However, the British based luxury automaker confirmed that they have no immediate plans for a sports car any time soon. Werner Tietz, who is Bentley’s board member in charge of engineering said that company is committed towards Grand Tourers and SUVs. They don’t have any plans into production of vehicles such as EXP 10 Speed 6 and EXP 12 Speed 6e Roadster. He stated that concept positioning doesn’t fit in their future strategy. Pure sports car is not in their topic of discussion.
Their first move has been to work on the current range of models and a rhythm to launch models spaced intervals. Bentley further added that there is scope for expansion of both lineups for Grand Tourer and SUV. This is exactly what they are currently exploring. The first step would be to ensure that they have GT in every segment. Unfortunately, Bentley is not certain if they are in that position. The British automaker consider that there is more potential in the segment.
Werner Tietz said that the can offer something unique especially when it comes to delivering cars with a sport edge which can with a push of a button can turn into luxurious and refined car. For a number of years, a SUV slotted below Bentayga has been going around for quite some time. However, Tietz declined that there is such vehicle on the agenda. Moreover, they are interested only in bigger models of the current versions that includes a new SUV that would target China and US market.
