The Audi S5 second generation is all set to unite with the Audi Q5 at the Paris Motor Show. The S5 is subtle with effective beautified alterations. The convertible will first hit the European streets with deliveries starting from autumn. The more realistic Sportback will hit Europe in early 2017. Both the Audi S5 prototypes are allocated the company’s V6 3.6 liter turbocharged gasoline engine. The engine churns out 354 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Irrespective of the model’s body type, both the S5 variants reach 62 mph in mere 4.7 seconds. The model’s top speed is 155 mph, courtesy to the electronic top speed limiter.
As expected from Audi, both the Audi S5 variants come with the conventional Quattro all wheel drive system. The power is channelled to the wheels via a tiptronic eight-speed transmission system. Experts have preferred Sportback over coupe. No wonder the Sportback is as sleek as the convertible. The reason for preference is the additional two doors for practicality. The Audi S5 Sportback is the best in class. It also features the largest trunk in the segment that is 480 liters.
The interior cabin of the latest generation Audi S5 is very similar to that of conventional A4 sedan. All the Audi S5 and A5 models have taken over the underpinnings of MLB Evo. The Audi Virtual Cockpit packs in a 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster. It also boasts of the latest MNI Navigation Plus 8.3 inch infotainment system. As per the rumored roadmap, the S5/A5 coupe will be available in the US from March 2017. The Sportback variant will be up for sale from around May 2017.
