We got to see Audi E-Tron Sportback concept for the first time at this year’s Shanghai Auto Show. According to latest reports, it has got the green light for production. It is expected that it will hit the market in United States by 2019. The decision is said to be official according to the publication Autonews which cited high ranking officials. When the Audi E-Tron Sportback is ready, it will use the same MLB Evo architecture but will be modified. The electric SUV so will share it with A4, A5, Q6, and Q7.
The most potent version of Audi E-Tron Sportback is expected to give an output of 500 horsepower. It will be available in wide range of powertrains. If it follows the same then it would certainly accelerate from o to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds just like the show car. Audi is trying their best to make the E-Tron looks as futuristic as possible. To do that they are incorporating exterior camera, organic light emitting diode (OLED) and discard the conventional side mirrors and use screens. However, this feature will be available only in those markets which allow it.
Even though the official pricing is not out, it is expected that it would be around $70,000. It would make much more expensive than the entry level 2017 Audi Q7. E-Tron Quattro will follow the Audi E-Tron Sportback which was previewed in the year 2015.
