Audi is preparing for the launch of their new electric vehicle E-Tron. Audi E-Tron is the first battery powered electric vehicle from German car maker. Thankfully, to make this electric SUV more enticing, Audi have announced solutions that will help customers to adopt its lifestyle seamlessly. To be more specific, Audi E-Tron customers will receive pair of intelligent solutions for the purpose of connecting electric vehicles with their homes. For starters, standard compact charging system will have charging that will have an output of 11kW. On top off it, Audi is also offering secondary charging system with double output i.e. 22kW.
For this charging system, Audi E-Tron will be equipped with an optional secondary charger. This system will be able to connect with the grid through home’s Wi-Fi. It will also offer ‘intelligent charging functions’ that will work in conjugation with home energy management system. Head of Product Marketing at Audi, Fermin Soneira said that Audi wants to maintain premium quality standards and one way to achieve it through connection of electric vehicle with intelligently connected home that adds value to the customer. To realize this promise Audi have collaborated two leading suppliers of home energy management systems which are Hager Group and SMA Solar Technology.
If customer combines charging system with home energy management system, they will be able to use variable electricity tariffs for the purpose of charging Audi E-Tron. Now, if the home is connected with photo-voltaic system, charging process can be optimized to the generated electricity by the system for charging the electric vehicle. Audi E-Tron with final production form will be revealed on 30th August. According to European WLTP cycle, the driving range will be 248 miles. This electric vehicle comes with electric motors and a 95kWh battery pack. Performance figures has not been released but is expected to be more than 400 horsepower.
