BMW i8 is one of the most successful models along with i3 by the German automaker. This hybrid car is in huge demand and they have doubled the production of it. BMW i8 has the price tag of $136,000 for United States and €130,000 in Germany. Audi has now set a plan in motion which will have them launch three electric vehicles by the end of this decade. One of the cars will be a direct competition to the successful and popular BMW i8.
Unfortunately, nothing much is known about the car but Audi’s Chief Executive Rupert Stadler said something about it. In an interview to Auto Express at Geneva Motor Show, he revealed that it will be launched after the electric SUV and at the same time as the upcoming compact electric car. This electric SUV would be similar to the Volkswagen I.D. This electric SUV will have range between 320 kilometers to 600 kilometers.
Talking about BMW, they still haven’t has any plan for the i8. However, there is a suggestion that they might upgrade and overhaul the current model and make it much more powerful for the next generation. If they go through with this plan, it would make the job of Audi much more difficult. It will force Audi to come up with a new electric sport car which was previously occupied by Audi R8 e-Tron. Audi R8 e-Tron was cancelled as it wasn’t very successful. The aforementioned model might have an output of 400 horsepower and would be an electric alternative to the TT family.
