Apple Car Development Speeds up with a new Partner

Apple has partnered with Magna Steyr to develop the Project Titan. In early 2015 the Apple Car project was uncovered. Since then the company has looked to streamline its Project Titan. After the flurry of layoffs, a new partner has stepped up to help in the development of the new car, an industry veteran. The Magna Steyr is an Austrian based contract auto manufacturer. It is Apple’s new partner for this project of Apple Car. In 2001 the company was founded. In Canada, Ontario it is a part of the Magna International group.

Previously Magna has worked with many manufacturers like Tesla, Jaguar, and Mercedes Benz. Recently it worked with Mini to develop the Paceman and a small Countryman SUV. The new Apple Car project is lead by Bob Mansfield. Under it Magna Steyr will be an essential part of the company’s car development. Bloomberg said that around a dozen of Magna Steyr employees are working together in California with the Apple team. This is Apple’s way to give the project a reboot. The details of the ongoing partnership are scarce.

According to the reports, Apple will shift its full focus to the self driving aspect of this project. The Magna Steyr team will work on the engineering side. Then the two companies will come together on the final development and design. The exact details about the Apple Car are still a secret. According to the previous rumors, the Apple Car could be on the streets around 2019 and 2020. It will have some few minor setbacks. But its launch date is now pushed to 2021.
