Alpine A110 lineup in UK consist of Pure and Legende. It has been joined by range-topping Alpine A110S with a staring price of £56,810. Alpine is accepting reservations and the order bill open from 3rd of September. This is the most agile variant of French’s mid-engined, rear-wheel sports car. It is £6,000 and £9,900 expensive than the lesser models. Interestingly, Alpine A110S is costlier than slightly powerful Porsche 718 Cayman T by £4,755. Buyers who are opting for Alpine A110S will get edge over its German competitor in many aspects.
Alpine A110S takes 4.4 seconds to hit 62mph whereas the Porsche’s Cayman T takes 5.3 seconds. Even if it incorporates optional Sport Chrono Package, it takes 4.7 seconds. It is one-tenth of a second faster than the existing Alpine variants. Alpine’s MD, Sebastien Erphelin said that from the inception of Alpine project, it was their intention to offer different versions of A110 with handling and performance characteristics. Alpine A110S uses the same turbo-four 1.8-liter powertrain like the lesser trims. It is rated at 288p and 320 Nm of torque, with top speed stands at 162mph. Engine is mated with seven-speed automatic transmission that channels power to rear wheels.
Output of A11S is 8hp and 60Nm lesser than Cayman T, but Italian vehicle features a four-banger with a slightly larger displacement. French automaker has also tweaked with the suspension and stability control along with wheel geometry for responsive driving experience. Beside power upgrade, Alpine equipped A110S with high performance brakes, a revised suspension and new set of wider Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. Brembo brakes are also available which is as optional for other trims. Buyers of Alpine A110S can opt for optional gloss carbon fiber roof that shaves 1.6kg. But it will cost £2,208. New Gris Tonnerre matt grey paint finish is also available for A110S.
