It is reported that Alfa Romeo is developing Giulia Coupe that will feature advanced energy recovery system (ERS). This news surfaced at Autocar from unnamed sources and it revealed that two Giulia models are under development with ERS. The first model will incorporate 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine and it develops 345 horsepower. The second version will use company’s 2.9 liter twin-turbo V6 engine with energy recovery system and will deliver an impressive 641 horsepower. However, this is not the first time we have come across this Giulia Coupe reports. It is also reported that Giulia GTV might be under development.
If Alfa Romeo Giulia Coupe does get fulfilled then it will be based on the sedan with two doors along with revised roofline, and custom rear quarter panels. Few tweaks are also possible on the front to distinguish it from four-door vehicle. ERS which is under development for the performance version of Giulia Coupe might be development of HY-KERS system. The same system is used on LaFerrari. It may not be so shocking if it takes help of their new partner Sauber Formula One Team to improve the powertrain.
With 641 horsepower will be significantly faster than its competitor such as Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe, BMW M4, and Audi RS5. Nonetheless, all these are just rumors for now as nothing is confirmed by Alfa Romeo.
