Acura recently came up with upgraded version of RLX sedan. Not many people know that it only competes in certain market only. However, this brand is sold as Honda in their home country of Japan. For such market, the company have added few new things on Honda Legend. In this Japanese version of Acura RLX there is revised front-end styling, centered around the “beakless” new grille along with encompassing new bumpers front and rear. It also comprises of new head and taillights. On the inside there is ergonomics and seats and silver trim.
Since, it is a compact hybrid powertrain; it has much more trunk room. The suspension has been tuned to improve the handling and has several safety systems with the help of Honda Sensing suite. This Acura RLX or Legend will hit the market in Hybrid EX trim and with complete Sport Hybrid SH-AWD powertrain. It has the starting price of ¥7,074,000 which is around $65k. If we compare this figure with the US pricing, then it is quite similar. US customers would also pay the same price to get Acura RLX Sport Hybrid.
The projected sales in the domestic market for Acura RLX are around thousand units. The asking price mentioned above also includes eight percent fuel consumption tax that is applied for very large sedan. Since, it is manufactured by domestic manufacturer the charges aren’t that inflated. For Japanese customers, the price is similar to that of BMW 530e iPerformance or Mercedes-Benz E350e. Another domestically produced vehicle, Lexus GS450h is priced around 7.4 million yen.
