Canada and United States are first countries to receive ABT RS5-R Sportback. ABT Sportsline is yet to release in Europe and even in their home market. ABT has applied widebody and high-performance touch to the RS5 Sportback. They christened it as ABT RS5-R Sportback and first vehicle is limited to 50 units only. It has been built by ABT Sportsline and America based TAG Motorsports. ABT RS5-R Sportback gets same treatment to that of coupe. Hence, it is powered with 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. It offers an output of 503 hp from 444 hp and peak torque of 689 Nm from 600 Nm of torque.
Impressive improvement in power and torque is attributed to separate ABT Engine Control (AEC) unit, an additional water radiator kit, rear muffler package, and air intake cover. Apart from engine upgrades, ABT has also upgraded hardware. ABT RS5-R Sportback comprises of ABT height adjustable suspension springs, and ABT sports stabilizers on both axles. All these modifications ensure that RS5-R Sportback is agile in corners and also on straight line. With respect to visuals, ABT RS5-R Sportback has been included with several upgrades when compared with RS5 Sportback.
The highlight is the aero pack and several of its component wears glossy carbon. It can be found on front lip spoiler, front flics, grille frame, wheel arch vents, rear spoiler, and rear skirt add-on. ABT includes a muffler which has 4-inch diameter carbon tailpipe trims. The Sportback rides on 10×21-inch ABT Sport GR wheels. Interior has kept minimalist features such as ABT shift knob cover in carbon fiber, ABT door sills, ABT integrated entrance lights with RS5-R logo, and an “ABT RS5-R 1 of 50” badge.
