To keep up with the demand of SUVs in market, Mercedes is targeting this segment with their AMG portfolio. It will vary from compact GLA to GLS and at the ongoing Los Angeles Auto Show, Mercedes-AMG brings forth GLE 63 S and GLS 63. 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 and GLE 63 S have one aspect is common which is the powertrain. With the help from twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine it generates 603hp and 850 Nm of torque. With EQ Boost starter-generator, it gets an additional 21hp and 249Nm of torque. Both the models use air suspension and nine-speed automatic transmission mated with 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system.
Depending on the situation, AWD system can send full power to the rear wheels or can distribute evenly between two axles. If you are looking for a faster version between the two, go for 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S. It takes 3.7 seconds to hit 0-60mph whereas GLS 3 needs an additional four tenths of a second. Both of them has an electronically top speed limiter rated at 174mph. With respect to styling, it has Panamericana like front grille and quad exhausts at the back with an aggressive body kit from the flared wheel arches. GLE gets 21-inch standard wheels whereas for GLS it is 23-inch along with a massive air intake.
Even though 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 and GLE 63 S are top of the range models, but German automaker is offering an extensive options list. It consists of head-up display, Burmester sound system, four-zone climate control system for GLE and rear-seat entertainment system for GLS. Mercedes AMG GLE 63 S and GLS 63 will go on sale from mid-2020 in the United States. Pricing details will be disclosed when launch date is near.
