Chevrolet have unveiled next-gen Tahoe and Suburban at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. Both of them gets a series of updates which differentiates from outgoing models. 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban are underpinned by T1 truck platform which will also be used on Cadillac Escalade and GMC Yukon. This platform also adopts GM’s Global B electrical architecture and supports OTA updates and also advanced network security for automated driving technology. One of the most significant upgrades is the inclusion of new multi-link, independent rear suspension. With respect to aesthetics, 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban looks like latest Chevrolet Silverado. On the front, there is heavily revised grille, and small new headlights that includes boomerang LED daytime running lights. 2021 Chevrolet Suburban is more of a stretched version of Tahoe.
Both these models have same styling changes. Nonetheless, 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 that features a jacked-up suspension system and revised front fascia with more black accents. Moreover, the High Country and Z71 models features an Air Ride Adaptive Suspension system that offers automatic load-leveling and ride-height adjustment. When it is driven on highway, system lowers the ride height by 19mm to improve aerodynamics and fuel efficiency. Furthermore, suspension can also be lowered by 51mm to ease passenger entry and exit when it is parked. When it is driven off-road in 4WD Hi mode, ride height cane be raised by 25mm and an extra 1-inch at lower speeds in 4WD LO. 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban are bigger which might not look on first glance. However, it is evident by stretched 4.9-inches Tahoe’s wheelbase that makes it 6.7-inches longer than the outgoing version. Chevrolet Suburban’s wheelbase is stretched by 4.1-inches and is also 1.3-inches longer.
The current 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 is in use that offers 335hp and 420hp respectively. Both these engine feature Dynamic Fuel Management technology with more than 12 modes of cylinder deactivation. A new optional Duramax 3.0-liter inline-six turbo-diesel is being offered apart from Z71. It offers 277hp and 623 Nm of torque. 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban comes with 30 safety and driver technologies. It includes Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Front Pedestrian Braking, Rear Park Assist, IntelliBeam automatic headlamp control, Rear Pedestrian Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning and others. Refreshed cabin has a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that uses company’s infotainment system3. It has 8-inch screen in instrument cluster as standard on Premier and High Country models. Lesser variants use 4.2-inch screen. Pricing details of 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban has not been announced but will arrive at dealership by mid-2020.
