Volvo has opened order books for the new 2020 XC40 T5 Twin Engine in the United Kingdom. Deliveries of XC40 T5 Twin Engine will begin from February 2020. Premium compact SUV is the first to offer a PHEV variant in the segment and is offered in four trim levels. Base version 2020 Volvo XC40 T5 Twin Engine starts from £40,905 for R-Design. Moreover, R-Design Pro and Inscription is priced from £42,305 and £41,255 respectively. Range-topping version is the Inscription Pro and is priced from £42,305.
Swedish automaker UK’s Managing Director, Kristian Elvefors said that 2020 Volvo XC40 T5 Twin Engine is the first plug-in hybrid car in the premium compact SUV segment and its technology that brings real day-to-day cost benefits in terms of tax and consumption. This PHEV offers output of 177hp (180 PS) from 1.5-liter petrol engine and 81hp (82 PS) electric motor, total output stands at 258hp (262 PS). Power is transferred to front wheels through a seven-speed automatic transmission that helps it accelerate 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 127 mph.
With regards to fuel efficiency, 2020 Volvo XC40 T5 Twin Engine returns 141.1 mpg UK on average and emits 38 g/km of CO2 in the WLTP cycle when fitted with 19-inch wheels. Premium compact PHEV is supported by 10.7 kWh lithium-ion battery that can be fast charged in 2.5 hours and takes between 3.5 and 6 hours using a 3-pin plug cable. All-electric driving range is up to 29 miles. T5 Twin Engine will join three petrol and two diesel units in XC40 range that will be completed next year by a zero-emission version. Buyers can use official configurator to customize to their own spec.
