At next month’s Chicago Auto Show, 2020 Subaru Legacy will make its grand debut on 9th February. A new teaser showcases cabin and seems like a hugely different from current Legacy. Unfortunately, the light is dark, but still it reveals a portrait styled screen for infotainment system. It is anticipated that system will run on updated version of brand’s software. It will have access to MySubaru, SiriusXM satellite radio, navigation and other functions. Controls for air conditioner are positioned under the touchscreen display which gives an impression of a large display.
Mid-air vents have vertical design and the rest of dashboard has been wrapped in leather, but it is highly likely that it will be available for range-topping model. Going down, the center console consists of USB and AUX ports. Even the gearshift lever is completely new and right beside it there is a button which says “View”. We are not sure what exactly it is, but we are expecting it could be EyeSight active safety feature or might be an access to front/rear cameras.
2020 Subaru Legacy is based on company’s global modular architecture which is also present on Impreza, Ascent and Forester. The architecture promises to deliver improved handling and comfort and also supports for a possible electrified version. It is anticipated that 2020 Subaru Legacy will be powered with Forester’s 2.5 liter for base variant. Currently available naturally aspirated flat-six engine might be replaced by Ascent’s turbocharged 2.4 liter four cylinder unit. It is mated with CVT and comes with standard all-wheel drive. After the introduction, the mid-size model is likely to go on sale by the end of spring or in summer. It will face the likes of Mazda6, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata and others.
