Everyone seems to be engrossed with Porsche’s new Taycan electric sports car, but the German automaker have used the event to showcase updated Macan Turbo. 2020 Porsche Macan Turbo deserves our attention. It gains a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 unit and replaces 3.6-liter unit. Even though new engine has smaller displacement, it churns out an impressive 434hp and 550 Nm of torque. It is an improvement of 40hp over its outgoing model. This is the same engine used on Porsche’s other model such as Panamera and Cayenne. Its turbochargers are placed within V angle for a sharper response.
Engine in 2020 Porsche Macan Turbo is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that enables it to accelerate from standstill to 62mph in 4.3 seconds. This makes it 0.3 seconds faster than the model it is replacing and can hit a top speed of 167mph. 2020 Macan Turbo is not only faster but is also more fuel efficient. Fuel economy is rated between 23.5 and 24.8 mpg UK as per latest WLTP cycle. Range-topping version of 2020 Porsche Macan Turbo features LED headlights with company’s Dynamic Light System, 20-inch alloy wheels and surface-coated high-performance brakes with white calipers as standard. As an option, adjustable air suspension with newly tuned dampers, Porsche Torque Vectoring and carbon ceramic brakes are available.
Cabin of 2020 Porsche Macan Turbo comes with 18-way adjustable sports seats dressed in leather, an Alcantara roof lining combined and brushed aluminium trim. Moreover, there is also 10.9-inch full-HD infotainment system with connected features paired to a 14-speaker Bose audio system. Optionally, Porsche is offering heated GT sports steering wheel, an LTE telephone module, an ioniser for better air quality in the cabin with Porsche’s latest traffic jam assistant. It offers automated driving mode for speeds up to 37mph.
