After showcasing teaser, Porsche has finally introduced 718 Boxster Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4. 2020 Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 has been equipped with newly developed 4.0-liter boxer engine. Nonetheless, design is of utmost importance for road-going 718 models. This new six-cylinder engine is naturally aspirated and offers an output of 414 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. The engine is mated with manual six-speed transmission and this setup helps it to accelerate 0-62mph in 4.4 seconds. Top speed is different for both models as 718 Boxster Spyder hits a maximum speed of 187 mph and 718 Cayman GT4 achieves top speed of 189 mph. 2020 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 is able to complete the iconic Nürburgring Nordschleife 10 seconds faster than its predecessor.
Even though the vehicle is focused towards performance, but engine has equipped with an adaptive cylinder control system. This system temporarily interrupts the injection process in one of the two cylinder banks to reduce fuel consumption. The engine also features a variable intake and piezo injectors whereas the latter was important as it marks the first time they have used in such high-rev engine. Both of them gets modest makeover. 718 Cayman GT4 is inspired by GT4 Clubsport and has been equipped with fixed rear wing and a functional diffuser. With these modifications, it produces 50% more downforce than standard model without compromising drag. Additionally, there is front splitter and vertical air curtains. 2020 Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder features unique rear lid with a double bubble design that is connected by a floating third brake light. It also has automatic rear spoiler which deploys at 75 mph. Interestingly, Spyder is first Boxster to generate aerodynamic downforce at rear axle.
Cabin consist of GT Sport steering wheel a short throw shifter along with Alcantara upholstery, Sport Seats Plus and brushed aluminum or painted trim. Several option packages are available such as Spyder Classic Interior Package which comprise of Bordeaux Red and Black leather upholstery, GT Silver Metallic trim and a two-tone fabric roof. 2020 Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 shares same chassis and thus comes with Porsche Active Suspension Management system with 30mm reduced ride height. Engineers have also incorporated a retuned Porsche Stability Management system and a Porsche Torque Vectoring system with mechanical rear differential. 2020 Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder and 718 Cayman GT4 are available to order. Pricing for 2020 Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder starts from $96,300 whereas 2020 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 pirced from $99,200. It excludes delivery, handling and processing fees of $1,250. These models will arrive at US shores by spring of 2020.
