Peugeot Sport is leaving nothing to chance as they are looking to strength their range. In this aspiration, they have introduced 208 Rally Car. Dubbed as 2020 Peugeot 208 Rally 4, it is successor to 208 R2. It was under work from mid-2018 and builds on road-going new-gen 208. It come with several visual and technical upgrades like the model-specific body kit, 6×15 or 7×17-inch Speedline wheels. There is also McPherson suspension, bigger brakes and mechanical limited-slip differential. 2020 Peugeot 208 Rally 4 uses the familiar 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine from its road-going sibling but was adapted for competition use.
Hence, it gains bigger turbo along with a SADEV gearbox and Magnetti Marelli engine management system. 2020 Peugeot 208 Rally 4 generates 205hp at 5,450 rpm and 290 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. This front-wheel drive rally car will make its competitive debut on 22-23rd November at Madrid Rally held in Spain. It will be put through a strenuous test by Efren Llarena and Sara Fernandez. It will make its presence felt at Rallye du Var, France between 22 and 24th of November.
Peugeot said that 208 Rally 4 followed an intensive development program where the car was tested and validated on all kind of surfaces and in extreme conditions with experienced drivers. Peugeot Sport promises to deliver an unparalleled driving experience and unprecedented performance in the class. It further said that it will be available by 2nd quarter of 2020. Prospective buyers of 2020 Peugeot 208 Rally 4 can place a deposit by early January and order book will open second quarter of next year. Price of the rally car starts from €66,000 in France excluding tax. People who are participating in rallies in Spain and France will be given first priority.
