Many automakers have moved away from passenger cars and concentrating mostly on crossovers. Mitsubishi is one such prime example of it. In their US lineup, the most conventional and only budget-oriented car remains the Mirage. The rest of the lineup consists of crossovers such as Outlander, Outlander Sport, and Eclipse Cross. Now, the question arises what of Mitsubishi wants to get back in the sedan segment. Let us speculate that they revive the Galant. A rendering image of 2020 Mitsubishi Galant has been envisioned by a Philippines based designer Enoch Gabriel Gonzales.
Rendering of 2020 Mitsubishi Galant is just a speculation but takes into consideration company’s latest designing cues into four-door sedan form. Mitsubishi Galant has been Japanese based auto carmaker mainstay since 1969 till 2012. It evolved its way through compact sedan into a mid-sized sedan and along the way went through some changes (coupe, hatchback, and wagon) in nine generation span. In the year 2002, Mitsubishi Galant annual sales were around 100,000 but dwindled to less than 12,000 by the year 2009. The drop in sales figure never recovered and it eventually led to the company pulling the plug few years later.
This trend continued with other mid-size economy sedans and looks like that it will continue in near future. One of the reason that can be attributed to this trend is crossover usually keeps handling more conventional and offers greater space, capability and all-round appeal. However, if the things don’t change for a while Mitsubishi along with new allies Renault and Nissan would revive it. Thus, the upcoming sedan might look similar to the 2020 Mitsubishi Galant.
