Mercedes-Maybach used ongoing Los Angeles Auto Show to showcase their latest family member. The major changes may be on the inside but the exterior has been modified to make it different from the Benz GLS. Front of the SUV has a shiny new grille with vertical chrome pinstripes just like we encountered in Maybach S-Class facelift. Chrome theme continues on the lower grille and also on the side ait intakes that is flanked by curved trim strips. Underbody protection of 2020 Mercedes-Maybach GLS gives us an impression of a SUV that has high-gloss finish.
Looking the side of 2020 GLS, we will encounter bespoke 22-inch alloy wheel, but there is also an optional 23-inch with multi-spoke layout that mimics the front grille. We could also see chrome plates on the B-Pillars and such inserts on the roof rails. Overall, eight two-tone finishes will be made available and regardless of the choice, Maybach emblem will be displayed on the D-Pillar. The back of 2020 Mercedes-Maybach GLS showcases similar design style and a chrome strips runs along the entire width of the tailgate and continues on the fenders, above the taillights.
More chrome can be observed at the top and bottom of the bumper. It includes dual exhaust tips featuring a rectangular design. Upon entering the cabin, we could see two row and retains the same wheelbase as the standard GLS. Rear passengers would enjoy 43.4 inch of legroom and can relax on extended seats. Power in the 2020 Mercedes-Maybach GLS comes from twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that generates 550hp and 729Nm of torque. With help of EQ Boost, it offers additional 21hp and 249Nm for a limited time. The US-spec GLS 600 4Matic takes 4.8 seconds to hit 0-60mph and has a top speed of 130mph. European models has a top speed of 155mph. Pricing has not been disclosed as of yet, but it will hit US market by second half of next year.
