Mercedes-Benz announced that AMG G63 is getting Trail package in United States. It was revealed last week through a lengthy press release by German luxury automaker. Details were minimum and only stated that an optional AMG Trail package would come with all-terrain tires. For confirmation, Car and Driver spoke with spokesperson of the company and confirmed that 2020 Mercedes-AMG G63 indeed is getting an off-road tire option for US market. No images of the 2020 Mercedes-AMG G63 all-terrain tires were released but the configuration tool does allow users to select off-road tires in question.
In overseas market, AMG Trail Package consist of distinct components along with new wheels and tires. For instance, there is underbody protection, all-weather rubber floor mats, and a set of rear flaps. Interestingly, European models also gains heat-insulating tinted glass but we are not expecting the same feature for US market. Price of this package in Germany is equivalent to $3,517. Thus, we are expecting starting price point around the same region for AMG Trail Package when it finally goes to sale in United States. There is no denying that Mercedes-Benz G-Class is one of the most potent off-roaders.
Nonetheless, majority of them won’t be getting apart from smooth tarmac or odd pebble. With the inclusion of Trail Package, buyers would have an option of opting for tires that is necessary to get more adventurous. 2020 Mercedes-AMG G63 is powered with twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that offers an impressive 577hp and 850 nm of torque. This SUV despite being huge, is still capable of accelerating from zero to 62mph in 4.7 seconds. When opted with AMG Drivers Package, it can hit top speed of 137 mph to 149 mph.
