Second-generation of Soul is making its way for a new successor. Described by Kia as all-new model, 2020 Soul made its premiere at LA Auto Show. Overall, shape of 2020 Kia Soul is similar to the outgoing model, but it has gone through several changes. 2020 Soul has boxy silhouette but has several futuristic styling elements especially on the front. The front fascia comprises of a pair of slim headlights that sits on black accent and enlarged black front grille. Front fascia also includes daytime running lights.
Rear of 2020 Kia Soul gets a makeover and can be seen via stunning taillights that extends to the C-Pillar. Talking about C-Pillars, Kia has worked on it and has been designed to resemble like airplane wings and has “Soul” badging. There are several powertrain options for the 2020 Kia Soul. Base models of 2020 Kia Soul have been equipped with naturally aspirated 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine that is rated at 147hp and 178Nm of torque. The engine can be mated with six-speed manual or Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). If buyer is looking for more performance, then they can opt for 1.6 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that works in conjugation with seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Output of this engine is 201hp and 264Nm of torque.
One of the most important variant of 2020 Kia Soul is the electric version. It features 64kWh battery that supports Combined Charging System DC fast-charge as standard. The electric motor offers 201hp and 394Nm of torque. Kia hasn’t revealed additional performance details about it. There are four driving modes on 2020 Kia Soul EV which are Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Eco+ respectively. 2020 Kia Soul EV has smart regenerative braking that is functioned through paddle shift. It allows the drive to slow down the car and save kinetic energy to boost range. Additionally, 2020 Kia Soul features 10.25 inch HD color touchscreen with split screen and rear view monitor with parking guidance.
