Kia has taken veil off the all new-gen Mohave in South Korea. It was previewed at 2019 Seoul Motor Show as Mohave Masterpiece Concept. 2020 Kia Mohave will be launched locally in this September. If we compare with the study presenter earlier, Mohave Masterpiece has slightly toned-down exterior design. Modifications were found around grille, front bumper and fog lamps along with side mirror caps, side steps, taillights and tailgate. One would notice that there are no visible Kia badges on the outside, but we must consider that predecessor didn’t have Kia logos either.
Interior images nor the technical specifications of the 2020 Kia Mohave have not been revealed as of yet. However, tailgate badge discloses that it does have all-wheel drive and 3.0-liter V6 unit. The latter is expected to be diesel and offer an output of 256hp (260 PS) and 560 Nm of torque and mated with eight-speed automatic transmission. We are expecting some upgrade in the interior heavily influenced by new Telluride. Since, Mohave Masterpiece Concept had blacked out window, not much could be made about its interior.
In North America, Mohave is marketed as Borrego, but it was discontinued in 2009 due to poor sales. It was eventually replaced by Kia Sorento. Meanwhile, Kia launched Telluride which is a 3-row mid-size SUV. Kia Telluride is capable of accommodating up to 8 seats. It is quite interesting to see if 2020 Kia Mohave arrives in Stateside as Borrego as an off-road capable SUV. There is a huge upsurge of adventurous vehicle in moment and Kia won’t miss out on capitalizing on the huge demand.
