Hyundai has announced two new engines for 2020 Sonata that will available globally. This news about the mid-size sedan was revealed comes after some time. 2020 Hyundai Sonata will be available globally i.e. outside South Korea with two engine options which are 1.6-liter T-GDI engine and a 2.5-liter GDI engine respectively. The 1.6-liter T-GDI Smartstream engine offers 180hp and 264 Nm of torque. The larger 2.5-liter GDI engine offers 190hp and 245 Nm of torque. Both of the mentioned engines work in conjugation with eight-speed automatic transmission.
Last week, it was announced new Sonata models for South Korea will be offered with 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that offers with 158hp and a hybrid 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that offers 144hp. Hyundai didn’t exactly reveal which specific market will get the 1.6-liter and 2.5-liter GDI engine, so we are not sure if it will reach Europe or North America. Apart from announcing two new powertrains, new innovations for 2020 Hyundai Sonata was disclosed. It includes a ‘Digital Key’ which uses Near Field Communication (NFC) that enable owners to lock and unlock the vehicle from their smartphone. Several other functions can be performed with ‘Digital Key’.
2020 Hyundai Sonata comes with advanced driving systems that is Level 2 Autonomous compatible. It comprises of Forward Collision-Avoidance, Safety Exit Assist, Blind-Spot View Monitor, Lane Follow Assist, Surround View Monitor, Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Remote Smart Parking Assist. Considerable amount was spent to make interior more enticing. 2020 Hyundai Sonata offers 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster along with a separate 10.3-inch HD screen that is present in center of dashboard that has infotainment functions. 2020 Hyundai Sonata is also equipped with Bose Premium sound system with 12 speakers. Hence, audiophiles will appreciate Bose Centerpoint and Bose SurroundStage technologies.
