The engine is mated with seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission built by Tremec. Gear change takes just 80 milliseconds, which is quicker than a blink of an eye.
Ford Performance chief program engineer, Ed Krenz said that range of brute-force drag acceleration, seamless road shifts and amazingly smooth shifts on the track is how the soul of the new Shelby GT500 is elevated to their most advanced Mustang ever. He further added that handling of 760hp with segment-first Tremec dual-clutch transmission, with an advanced control system which enhances GT500’s five drive models to deliver an experience that is usually reserved for exotic supercars. Moreover, 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 features the largest front brakes of any domestic sports coupe with 419mm rotors.
Lastly, there are an optional carbon fiber wheels wrapped in Ford Performance-spec Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. The five drive modes consist of “Track” and “Drag” and driver can select them from a switch that is mounted on the console. It improves throttle response, and tuning the transmission for faster gear changes. Earlier, it was revealed 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 takes 3.5 seconds to accelerate 0 to 62mph and can cover quarter mile in under 11 seconds.
