One of the bestselling crossovers in the word is none other than Ford Explorer. Now, they have showcased a redesigned 2020 Ford Explorer at the Detroit Auto Show. It has been previewed by Explorer Police Interceptor Utility and features evolutionary design which is recognizable instantly. The front fascia is rounded and is dominated by massive grille, slender headlights and sportier air intakes. Familiar styling continues with the plastic body cladding and evolutionary greenhouse. Nonetheless, 2020 Ford Explorer also comes with sleeker bodywork, a sportier roofline and pronounced character lines. Price of 2020 Ford Explorer starts from $32,765 and set to arrive at dealership this summer.
Interior of 2020 Ford Explorer has been overhauled and consist of high quality materials with minimalist design. Details of it has not been revealed, but entry-level variant will come with dual-zone automatic climate control system, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and 40/20/40 second-row seats. There is also 8-inch SYNC 3 infotainment system that is Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible. With Explorer XLT, buyers would get a 4-way power passenger seat, 10-way power driver’s seat and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Additional features include a 6.5-inch color display in the instrument cluster, second row USB charging ports and an Intelligent Access system with a push-button ignition.
Wide range of engine options will be available that includes 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder that offers 300hp and 420Nm of torque. It is mated with all-new ten-speed automatic transmission that transfers power to rear wheels. An optional intelligent four-wheel drive system that has terrain management system which has seven different modes is also available. A more powerful 3.0 liter EcoBoost V6 for 2020 Ford Explorer can be obtained which is rated at 365hp and 514Nm of torque when run on 93 octane fuel. With the help of new engine and rear-wheel drive platform, it can tow up to 2,540kg. A Limited Hybrid variant is also available but details are scarce at the moment. However, it could use hybridized 3.3 liter V6 engine. Details of new Rear-wheel drive platform are hidden, but entry-level 2020 Ford Explorer is tipped at 1,970kg.
