After the successful debut of the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray coupe, upcoming variants of the mid-engine sports car has been in our attention. The first on the list is 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Convertible and company gave us first look during the official presentation of 2020 Corvette Stingray Coupe. America based automaker teased the new C8 Convertible is a succession of photos and we managed to take few screenshots to see how it actually looks like. There are some clear differences between the coupe and a targa top. The major difference is with respect to the rear engine cover which has been replaced by a new one featuring two aero cowls, one behind each seat.
Between the retractable rear window and further back, we can spot a vent grille necessary for the cooling of the engine. Moreover, there is no fixed rear wing as on the coupe but there are some cutouts that could indicate the presence of a retractable spoiler. Unfortunately, the screenshots didn’t show with roof up but is highly likely fold down automatically under the new cover behind the cockpit as opposed to coupe’s hardtop that has to be manually removed and towed in the cargo compartment. It can be left behind in the garage if you are confident about the weather predictions.
2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Convertible is expected to consist of soft top for weight saving purpose just like its predecessor. On the back of the car, there is a stunning Stingray emblem which means that it will adopt the same 6.2-liter LT2 V8 engine. In standard guise, it offers 490hp and 630 Nm of torque. However, with an optional Z51 Performance Package, it is bumped to 495hp and 637 Nm of torque. Released date of the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Convertible has not been revealed as of yet but it will come in coming months as 2020 model.
