BMW revealed X3 M and X4 M to the world in the month of February and also announced two separate muscle cars. Regular models are powered with new twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that generates 473hp and 598 Nm of torque. If buyers opt for 2020 BMW X3 M and X4 M Competition, the engine will offer an impressive 503hp and same amount of torque. In standard version, both the crossover is able to hit accelerate to 60mph in 4.1 seconds before hitting the top speed of 174 mph. As expected, Competition model is slightly quicker by 0.1 seconds. With respect to top speed, it can be increased by opting for M Driver’s Package and manages to hit 177 mph.
2020 BMW X3 M and X4 M features multiple suspension mods like the custom swivel bearings, torque arms and wishbones up front, and the custom bushings and thicker anti-roll bars at the rear. Their chassis has been strengthened by using a strut tower brace up front, to go with a new A-strut by the firewall. The rear features a large rear brace and additional mods that are meant to further increase torsional stiffness. BMW has opted for high-performance braking system to ensure that crossovers receives appropriate stopping power to compensate the excess muscle. Brakes have drilled and ventilates discs. It measures 395 mm at the front and 370 mm at the rear.
Aesthetics consist of many M components to differentiate from stock BMW X3 and X4. It is evident from massive front facia with large air intakes and a black grille. There are also new mirror caps, rear diffuser, quad-tailpipe exhaust system, larger 20-inch wheels and additional body-colored components. Competition versions get high-gloss black accents, 21-inch wheels and an M Sport exhaust with black chrome tailpipes. Later this year, buyers would be able to order an optional M Carbon exterior package that decreases weight of components such as mirror caps and rear diffuser. Interior features Vernasca leather sport seats, aluminum carbon trim and other M-specific touches like gauge cluster, shifter and others. Competition versions offers standard M Sport seats with extended Merino leather.
