With the commencement of production of 2020 BMW M8 Gran Coupe beginning of this month at Dingolfing, Germany, 8-Series family is now complete. It happened few days before the model’s debut at 2019 LA Auto Show. 2020 BMW M8 Gran Coupe is the sixth and final model in the 8-Series lineup. Other member in the family includes M8 Coupe, M8 Convertible, 8-Series Coupe, 8-Series Convertible and 8-Series Gran Coupe. At this facility, BMW builds 60 units of M8 each day. For-door M8 is expected to be best M8 variant seller as it accounts for over 40% of plant’s daily M8 volume.
BMW M8 Gran Coupe and M8 Competition Gran Coupe will arrive at dealerships in January of 2020. BMW has already announced a limited edition of 400 units will be made available from April 2020. 2020 BMW M8 Gran Coupe First Edition will come with BMW’s Individual Aurora Diamond Green metallic special paint finish, BMW Iconic Laser lights in vibrant yellow, gold bronze accents and rims in Y-Spoke design. The new M8 Gran Coupe has 7.9-inch longer wheelbase when compared with two-door model versions. It enhances room comfort on two full-sized seats in the rear.
2020 BMW M8 Gran Coupe is powered with similar 4.4-liter Twin-turbocharged V8 unit that delivers 591hp in standard model whereas in Competition, output increases to 617hp. Torque for both versions are identical and stands at 750 Nm between 1800 and 5600 rpm. Generated output is changed through eight-speed M Steptronic transmission mated with standard M xDrive AWD system with a 2WD mode. Regular 2020 BMW M8 Gran Coupe is able to accelerate 0-62mph in 3.3 seconds whereas M8 Competition Gran Coupe takes 3.2 seconds.
