BMW is not wasting anytime to expand its 8-Series lineup and less than a year ago, they unveiled 2019 8-Series Convertible. Now, they have introduced 2020 BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe and looks far more attractive than 6-Series Gran Coupe. Front fascia of 2020 BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe is quite similar to the stock model. Hence, it has wide grille that is flanked by adaptive LED headlights with laserlights. Despite sporting a familiar design, 2020 Gran Coupe has less rakish windscreen and a taller roof. The Gran Coupe also comes with two rear doors and a pronounced shoulder line.
2020 BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe features panoramic glass moonroof a standard whereas M850i xDrive Gran Coupe will eventually be offered with an optional carbon fiber roof. When compared with Coupe, Gran Coupe is 9 inches longer, 1.2 inches wider and 2.2 inches taller. Even the wheelbase has been stretched 7.9 inches to accommodate more space for rear passengers. Rear passengers will appreciate an additional 3.4 inches of rear seat headroom and an extra 7.1 inches of legroom. Rear shoulder room has also been improved by 7.7 inches and trunk space increased by 19.8 liters.
2020 BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe will be offered wit different engine options that includes TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder 3.0-liter engine that offers 335hp and 500 Nm of torque. It works in conjugation with eight-speed automatic transmission and can be paired with an optional all-wheel drive system. When opted with latter, it can accelerate 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds before hitting limited top speed of 155 mph. Diesel fanatics can opt for 840d xDrive Gran Coupe that uses 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine producing 316hp and 680 Nm of torque. The engine is mated with an exclusive eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system. This setup helps it to accelerate 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds and reached limited top speed of 155 mph. US buyers won’t be getting diesel variants but they can opt for 840i, 840i xDrive or M850i xDrive. It will arrive at US shores in September and priced from $84,900. If buyers opt for all-wheel drive, it will cost them an extra $2900. BMW M850i xDrive Gran Coupe is priced from $108,900.
