BMW announced pricing details of the 2020 2-Series Gran Coupe for the US market. They would receive first examples in March 2020. Americans buyers would two models of 2020 BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe to choose from. One is the base version, 228i xDrive that is priced from $38,495 that includes destination fees of $995. The second one is M235i xDrive which is priced from $46,495. As the nameplates are self-explanatory, both these models are offered with BMW’s all-wheel drive system as standard. 2020 BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe is 178.5-inches long, 70.9-inches wide and 55.9-inches tall with 105.1-inches wheelbase.
Now, if we compare 2020 BMW 228i xDrive Gran Coupe with entry-level Mercedes CLA 250, it is expensive by $850. However, Mercedes model lacks all-wheel drive in this trim. 2020 BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe directly rivals against the Mercedes CLA 250 4MATIC that is priced from $39,645, including the destination fees of $995. Hence, it is $1,200 costlier than the BMW model. BMW 228i xDrive Gran Coupe is powered using a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 228hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Engine is paired with eight-speed automatic transmission as standard. This setup helps it to accelerate from 0-60mph in 6 seconds and top speed of 151mph.
Standard equipment in the 228i xDrive Coupe consist of a set of 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps and fog lights, power front sport seat, iDrive 6.0 with an 8.8-inch touchscreen display and 4 years of complimentary connected services and others. Range-topping M235i xDrive version and is pitted against Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 and Audi S3 Sedan. This model uses turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mated with eight-speed automatic transmission developing 301hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. Top speed is set at 155mph and takes 4.6 seconds to hit 0-60mph. 2020 M235i xDrive is offered with many M-related goodies as standard such as model-specific brakes, suspension and steering. There is also limited-slip front differential and aerodynamic body kit.
