Last week, Mazda unveiled the 2019 MX-5 in Japan amidst fanfare. Now, they have unveiled 2019 Mazda MX-5 with US specs and gets majority of the same updates. The updates include retuned SkyActiv-G 2.0-liter gasoline engine that generates 181 horsepower and 205Nm of torque. It is an increment of 26hp and 4Nm of torque than earlier. Mazda has also increased redline to 7,500rpm from 6,800rpm and also included new exhaust system. This tuning offers rich sound quality. Mazda claims that all these reworks are more responsive and engaging driving experience.
Apart from the mechanical work, 2019 Mazda MX-5 will bring forward new brown canvas soft top and black metallic rims of 17 inch. It has been joined by “easier-to-open doors” that is revised door stops, modified cupholders and seat levers. There is also new telescoping steering wheel of 1.65 inches. 2019 Mazda MX-5 will come with new standard reversing camera and is available on all trim levels. There is also driving assistance equipment included in 2019 Mazda MX-5 such as Traffic Sign Recognition, Smart City Brake Support and i-ActiveSense safety technologies that can be found on different grades.
2019 Mazda MX-5 European models also get an update and the 2.0-liter petrol engine offers the same output as its US siblings. The 1.5 liter engine has been reworked but Mazda is tight lipped about it. With i-ActiveSense safety technology several features would be made available such as Advanced Smart City Brake Support, Smart City Brake Support (reverse), Driver Attention Alert, Traffic Sign Recognition and Rear View Camera. 2019 Mazda MX-5 will go on sale in Europe from the month of August 2018.
