The launch of 2019 Genesis G70 compact sedan is near and the company disclosed details and also performance figures of it. It will compete against the BMW 3-Series four-door car and promises reset segment’s benchmark. To achieve this target, Genesis is set to offer class-leading driver-focused performance with refined luxury and attractive and athletic styling. 2019 Genesis G70 is said to have strongest body in the segment as the architecture uses aluminium, high-grade steel and aerospace-grade adhesives. Overall height of 2019 Genesis G70 is lower and wider in the segment. It helps the G70 to provide exceptional dynamic performance.
With respect to aerodynamics, 2019 Genesis G70 has drag coefficient of 0.28Cd. Powering the entry-level versions is the turbo 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine with direct injection. This setup gives an output of 252 horsepower and 352Nm of torque. The four-cylinder engine is mated with eight-speed automatic gearbox which comes as standard. However, if a customer is looking for more then there is manual six-speed gearbox. Manual version of Genesis G70 is also offered with performance package that gives 255hp instead of 252hp as mentioned above. Features in this package include unique sport exhaust system, high-performance Brembo brakes and additional weight reduction measures. We still don’t know what weight reducing measures they are going to use.
Range-topping version of 2019 Genesis G70 comes with twin-turbo 3.3 liter V6 which gives an output of 365hp and 510Nm of torque. It is available with eight-speed automatic transmission only. Now, if we combine it with Genesis’ Launch Control and optional standard mechanical limited-slip differential, it can accelerate to 60mph in 4.5 seconds. Both these engine will be offered with all-wheel drive system. Genesis claims that combination of a rear mechanical limited-slip differential with all-wheel drive is unique in the segment and gives sharper handling. Pricing details will be revealed as the launch date comes near.
