Ford has revealed the all-new Focus ST even before releasing any official teaser. Just like the predecessor, 2019 Ford Focus ST is available with two engine options and two body styles. The major change is that Ford has discarded gasoline 2.0 liter turbo-four engine. In its place there is larger 2.3 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The new engine offers 276 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque from 3,000 rpm to 4,000 rpm. When compared with previous version of Focus ST, it is an increment of 12 percent more power and 17 percent more torque. 2019 Ford Focus ST will be available as five-door hatch and five-door wagon. It will go on sale in Europe this summer.
The 2019 Ford Focus ST is able to accelerate from 0 to 62mph in under 6 seconds. The new Ford Focus ST also benefits from an electronic limited-slip differential (eLSD) that not only improves traction and stability, but also offers Selectable Drive Modes. The all-aluminum 2.3 liter engine learns a lot from Ford GT supercar and F-150 Raptor pickup. Hence, it features anti-lag technology that promises “immediate power delivery” in Sport and Track Drive Modes. When foot is taken off accelerator pedal, anti-lag keeps the throttle open, maintaining compressor wheel speed and enabling boost pressure to build faster on demand.
Apart from gasoline unit, 2019 Ford Focus ST will be available with diesel engine option which comes in 2.0 liter EcoBlue Turbo diesel. This engine offers 187hp and 400Nm of torque. Incidentally, this is most powerful diesel engine ever to be fitted in Focus. Both the engine comes with six-speed manual gearbox but an optional seven-speed automatic transmission is also available. Cabin of new Focus ST consist of Recaro front seats, sports steering wheel, and aluminum trim. 2019 Ford Focus ST is built on new C2 architecture that offers unique suspension, braking and powertrain configuration.
