The all-new 2019 BMW i8 Roadster made its second appearance in United States. It was showcased at Los Angeles last year. This is the third model from the “i” range after i3 and i8 Coupe. 2019 BMW i8 Roadster will incorporate folding soft top which increases its weight by 60kg if compared to its normal sibling. Interestingly, the car is also missing out two rear seats. 2019 BMW i8 Roadster will have hybrid plug-in powertrain that consists of turbocharged 1.5 liter three-cylinder engine. It generates an output of 231 horsepower whereas electric motor generates an additional 143 horsepower.
It has 11.6kWh battery pack and the combined output stands at 374 horsepower. The setup enables 2019 BMW i8 Roadster to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds before hitting the top speed of 155mph. Its electric range is just 33 miles when it is driven at a speed of 65mph. Apart from this, there is no new additional news with us about the powertrain. The order for the 2019 i8 Roadster will commence from spring in United States.
The pricing of the 2019 BMW i8 Roadster will be declared when it nears the sale date. It will coincide with the BMW’s i8 Coupe meant for United States. The revamped BMW i8 Coupe is also showcased at the Detroit Auto Show along with BMW X2 Crossover.
