Back in the year 2012, BMW showcased i8 Concept Spyder and its production version will be available next year. Now they have dropped a teaser for the droptop plug-in hybrid covered in camouflage. This is none other than the 2018 BMW i8 Roadster. The only uncovered part of the car is the roof and it seems that it is made from fabric. 2018 BMW i8 Roadster has two humps just behind the rear seats. This was also seen on i8 Vision Future Interaction concept. The design of BMW i8 Roadster will be similar to that of hardtop variant.

There is a strong possibility that 2018 BMW i8 Roadster might be based on the upcoming facelift coupe. According to some report, it is suggested that electric convertible will have hybrid powertrain. Three-cylinder 1.5 liter gasoline engine along with electric motor will give an output in the region of 372 horsepower. However, these figures are not official and we will have to for official confirmation from the Bavarian car maker. 2018 BMW i8 Roadster will also feature bigger battery pack that will increase the electric car range significantly.

2018 BMW i8 Roadster might be revealed in the coming months as they have just released a teaser video. There is a good chance BMW might use the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show to reveal this car. With respect to pricing, it will certainly be expensive than the coupe. A standard i8 s priced from $143,400 in US whereas it is €134,000 in Germany.
